WHAT IS LAWNDALE TV?

OVERVIEW
Lawndale Community Cable Television consists of Lawndale CityTV (Channel 3) and Lawndale Community TV (Spectrum Channel 22 & Frontier Channel 29). The City of Lawndale is the sole programming authority for both Lawndale CityTV and Lawndale Community TV.

Lawndale CityTV
Lawndale CityTV is one of the City of Lawndale's primary methods of communication and transparency for the local community. Lawndale CityTV provides Government Access TV programming such as live and rebroadcast coverage of the Lawndale City Council and other community related programming.

Lawndale Community TV
Lawndale Community TV is one other City's primary methods of communication and provides information and authorized programming for the local community. Lawndale Community TV features Lawndale Community Bulletin Board messages.

FUNDING
Lawndale Community Television and City of Lawndale's Cable Television Division are funded by the City of Lawndale and the Lawndale Cable Usage Corporation through Local Access Fees and Franchise Fees provided by the local cable/video service companies Spectrum Cable (formerly Time Warner), Frontier (formerly Verizon) FiOs and AT&T U-Verse, as well as donations.

THE LAWNDALE CABLE USAGE CORPORATION
The Lawndale Cable Usage Corporation
is the non-profit, California corporation that receives these Local Access and Franchise fees, and provides for the development of Lawndale Community Television under the California State definitions for Public, Education and Government Access Television (PEG). The Corporation approves the annual Cable Television Budget and meets annually or as necessary.

PUBLIC, EDUCATION AND GOVERNMENT (P.E.G.) ACCESS TELEVISION
The City of Lawndale's City Attorney's Office, Administration Services Department and the Cable Television Division are responsible for the regulatory oversight, administration and management of the City's Public, Education and Government (PEG) Access Program, respectively, in the City of Lawndale. NOTE: Due to the Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act of passed by the State of California in 2007 passed by the California State Legislature, the cable companies were allowed to discontinue all support for public access channel. Due to this lack of funding the Public Access Television program in the City of Lawndale has been discontinued.

GOVERNMENT ACCESS TELEVISION
Government Programming on Lawndale CityTV consists of Live City Council Meetings, live and live-to-tape coverage of special events such as sports, concerts, student produced studio music productions, music videos, LCUC funded programming and community related programming produced by other government agencies, and electronic community bulletin board messages featuring public service and event announcements as well as the Lawndale Community Program Schedule. Staffing is allocated through the city funding, and also provided through high school and college internships as well as the City's Volunteer Program.

Lawndale CityTV - Lawndale Cable Television Division
The City of Lawndale's Cable TV Division currently provides oversight, facility and operations management, production, programming, intern and volunteer training and support services for the City of Lawndale's two Government Access television channels, Lawndale CityTV and Lawndale Community Television. Local programming is produced by the City of Lawndale is funded by the City of Lawndale and the local access and franchise fees provided through the Lawndale Cable Usage Corporation.

LAWNDALE COMMUNITY TELEVISION FACILITIES
The City maintains a Master Control facility adjacent to the Lawndale City Council Chambers. The purpose of this facility is to provide a digital video hub and distribution point utilizing fiber optic cable to telecast Lawndale CityTV and Community Television programming. The same facility also provides video production capabilities utilizing remote-controlled, multicamera television production equipment for live broadcasts of City Council Meetings and other legislative meetings.

The City maintains a television studio and television production offices for the development and production of programming to air on Lawndale CityTV. In partnership with the Centinela Valley Union High School District, El Camino College and California State University at Dominguez Hills, the City offers internships and volunteer programs to students and the community to learn various aspects of television and audio production as well as the development of programming such as public affairs programming, high school sports, concerts, music videos and more.

The City also maintains a mobile video production van to provide state-of-the-art High Definition multicamera TV coverage of events outside of City Hall. This mobile video/audio production vehicle can be utilized for any number of productions outside of the City's in-house television studio.

CAN I GET A COPY OF A PROGRAM I SAW ON CHANNEL 3?
You can request a VHS or DVD copy of any video program that has aired on Channel 3 simply by clicking here to download a copy of the Media Duplication Request Form. Just fill out sections 1 through 3 of this form, calculate the total amount due and bring the payment and the form to Lawndale City Hall Cashier's Window. The Cashier accepts cash, credit card, cashier's check or personal check with California ID. Or you can mail the form with a cashier's check for the total amount to the following address:

Be sure to include your contact information. When staff receives the request, a search for the show will confirm the program's availability and the request will be completed within 10 days.
