Fee Schedule

Building Permit Fee Schedule

Effective as of August 5, 2025

Building & Safety services (inspections, plan checks, and permit issuance) for the City of Lawndale are provided by the Los Angeles County Building & Safety Department.

The City's base permit fees are twice the amount of the permit fees charged by LA County. The multiplier ensures full cost recovery for building and safety services and helps offset costs to the General Fund. The General Fund is a financial source used to pay for other citywide programs and services.

Permit fees are updated periodically to account for the annual CPI-U increase in the Los Angeles area, as determined by LA County Public Works Department - Building & Safety Division.

Planning Fee Schedule

Effective as of April 22, 2025

Some Planning applications are deposit-based. The remaining balances left on the deposits are refunded after a project is completed or closed out. City staff time and material costs are charged against the deposits.

The Planning fee schedule is updated periodically when needed.

Development Impact Fee

Effective as of September 7, 2021

In 2021, the City of Lawndale adopted Development Impact Fees. These fees are to ensure that new developments share a portion of the costs of capital facilities necessary to accommodate such development. This is done to promote and protect the public health, safety, and welfare of the community.
