Lawndale Public Works Receives MSRC Grant for Clean Air Vehicle
The City of Lawndale Public Works Department has purchased a new compressed natural gas clean air vehicle through funding from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). This now puts the Public Works fleet at 90% clean air vehicles as Lawndale does its part to reduce vehicle emissions in the South Bay with a complete clean air fleet.

On January 1, 2008 The City of Lawndale’s building codes are changing. These changes are part of a state-wide adoption of new codes and every city, county and local jurisdiction in the state will be effected. Memorial Day Ceremony - May 26 at 9am
Come and join the City of Lawndale for its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday May 26 at 9:00 am. Pay tribute to the veteran’s of Lawndale who have lost their lives defending our country. The ceremony will take place in front of City Hall at the Memorial Wall. City Hall is located at 14714 Burin Avenue in Lawndale. Health and Safety Fiesta, and Pet Fair - Saturday June 7, at 10am
The City of Lawndale’s annual Health and Safety Fiesta and Pet Fair will be held at Jane Addams Park on Saturday June 7 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. There will be an opportunity to get your dog licensed and vaccinated. There will also be fun for the children, featuring live entertainment, BMX Bike Show, Petting Zoo and a raffle. There will also be food, games, crafts, health and safety information and much more. With the exception of food and drinks all events are free of charge. Fireworks Extravaganza - July 3, from 5pm to 10pm
The City of Lawndale’s annual Fireworks Extravaganza will be held on Thursday July 3 at Leuzinger High School’s football field. The fun and games for children will begin at 5:00 pm and the spectacular fireworks display will start at approximately 9:00 pm. The fun will consist of crafts, games, live musical entertainment, food and drinks. The live musical entertainment will be provided

Concert in the Park - Saturday August 9, at 1pm
Come out for Lawndale’s annual Concert in the Park Event at Jane Addams Park on Saturday August 9 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There will be live musical entertainment from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon of music and dance, if you wish. Food and activities will be available for the children. With the exception of food and drinks, this is a free event. Free Commercial/Multifamily Recycling is now available in Lawndale!
Landfills are filling up, and less landfill space may mean higher trash disposal costs for your business or complex. The City of Lawndale is committed to reducing the amount of trash going to the landfills. As part of this commitment, the City has arranged to provide you with free recycle containers and free recycling collection. (More)

 

 

To Toxic to Trash: Dispose Household Hazardous Waste & E-Waste the Right Way.
Properly dispose all of your Hazardous household waste and E-waste the right way on Saturday June 7, 2008 @ 9am-3pm. The Disposal event will be held at American Honda (1919 Torrance blvd., Torrance) and is open to all Los Angeles County residents.

Need Help With Homework?
The Community Services Department is offering free homework help to all students after school on Mondays through Thursday 3pm - 5:30pm. City staff will assist students in academic subjects with a direct emphasis Mathematics, Sciences, Spanish, English and History. The Homework Help program will continue throughout the academic school year in the Lawndale Community Services Department building at 14616 Grevillea Avenue. Homework Help is a free program.
