Not enough parking on your street?
The City allows residents to form parking permit districts by petition. For more information, click on the heading above.

Parking enforcement officers work with businesses, residents, schools, and visitors to meet the City's diverse parking needs. We count on your support and cooperation to enhance pedestrian safety, improve traffic flow, and help emergency and public vehicles to reach their destinations.

If you park illegally and receive a citation, carefully read and follow all the instructions on the citation. Failure to submit payment within the required time may result in penalties being added to the original fine, holds being placed against your vehicle's registration, or your car may be towed.

When a parking citation is issued, it must be paid or contested within 21 days. To pay a citation for the amount indicated on the citation, mail it with your check or money order (payable to City of Lawndale) to:

City of Lawndale
C/O Citation Processing Center
P.O. Box 10479
Newport Beach, CA 92658-0479

*CITATION PAYMENT MUST BE MAILED TO THE ADDRESS ABOVE. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAYMENTS IN PERSON.*

Remember, late payments will result in additional penalties.

State laws (CVC 40215) establish the process for contesting parking citations. To contest a citation, you must initiate a "Step 1" administrative review within 21 calendar days of the date the citation was issued or 14 calendar days from the mailing of the parking violation notice. Below are instructions on this process and how to apply for a "Step 1" administrative review. Apply in person at:

City of Lawndale
Municipal Services Department
Parking Control Division
14616 Grevillea Avenue
Lawndale, CA 90260

or call (310) 973-3220 to receive a contesting form by mail or fax. You can also click HERE to contest online.

A reviewing officer will thoroughly evaluate your contesting form and will mail the results of the review to the registered owner of the vehicle as soon as possible (typically within 10 days of the filing). If you are found not liable, the citation will be dismissed and no further action is required. If you are found liable, you may remit the fine by mail to:

City of Lawndale
C/O Citation Processing Center
P.O. Box 10479
Newport Beach, CA 92658-0479

Payment should be made by check or money order and must be received within 14 days of the date of the "Notice of the Results." Late payments will result in additional penalties.

In the event you wish to contest the result of the "Step 1" review, you may file "Step II - Parking Citation Contesting Form." The same filing procedures as in "Step 1" are required, except the full amount of the fine must be posted as bail. The completed and signed "Step II" form must be filed within 15 days of the date of the notice of the result of the "Step I" review. The bail amount will be held until the "Step II" Administrative hearing has been completed.

If you wish to contest the result of a "Step II'" Administrative hearing, you may appeal by filing with the Stanley Mosk Courthouse - Administrative Hearing which is located at: 111 North Hill Street, Room 102, Los Angeles, CA 90012, or call (213) 830-0803.
