Great Neighborhoods
Program - Contractor Information
The
City of Lawndale has implemented the Great Neighborhoods Program
(GNP) to assist homeowners, residing within city limits, make
needed repairs to their homes. In order to assist program participants
in the procurement of their contractor, we maintain a Contractors
List. This list is made available to GNP participants in order
to facilitate their 3-bid submission requirement.
Project
Amounts and Eligible Improvements
The
GNP will fund up to $20,000 for home improvements. Eligible improvements
include but are not limited to:
• Correcting building, code and/or health and safety violations
• Roof
• Stucco
• Windows
• Garage doors
• Entry doors
• Landscaping
• Driveways
• Exterior/Interior paint
• Kitchen cabinets
• Vinyl flooring
• Carpet
• Electrical
• Plumbing
• ADA improvements
Contractor Requirements
(General/Specialty)
GENERAL
CONTRACTORS:
The City requires that all general contractors requesting to be
added to the City’s Contractors List maintain and provide
proof of the following:

Current “B” License, in good standing with the State
Contractors Licensing Board.

Omission from HUD’s Debarred and Suspended List of Contractors
and Subcontractors.

One million dollars ($1,000,000) of general liability insurance
and list the City as additionally insured.

Adequate Workers Compensation insurance (if applicable).
SPECIALTY
CONTRACTORS:
The City requires that all specialty contractors requesting to
be added to the City’s Contractors List maintain and provide
proof of the following:

Current “C” License, in good standing with the State
Contractors Licensing Board.

Omission from HUD’s Debarred and Suspended List of Contractors
and Subcontractors.

Half million dollars ($500,000) of general liability insurance
and list the City as additionally insured.

Adequate Workers Compensation insurance (if applicable).
Progress Payment Inspections and Payment Processing
In
order to ensure quality workmanship, the City of Lawndale will
conduct progress payment inspections prior to releasing payment(s)
to contractors. No payment(s) will be issued for work that does
not pass the building inspector’s and/or program inspector’s
inspections.
Upon
passing inspection, your invoice will be processed and payment
made typically within 1-week of inspection. A 10% retention will
be withheld from each invoice and released to the contractor after
the 35-day hold period has lapsed, a Notice of Completion has
been filed with the County and all work completed is satisfactory.
Therefore,
if you have or plan to obtain the aforementioned requisites and
are interested in having your company’s name added to our
Contractors List, please contact the City of Lawndale’s
Community Development Department’s Great Neighborhoods Program

“Request to be Added to City’s Contractor List”
form found at the end of this brochure.
Once
your license and insurance information has been verified we will
add you to our Contractors List. We look forward to working with
