A. Every person owning or having custody or control of any dog over the age of four months in the city not covered by the provisions of Section 10.20.090 of the Los Angeles County Code shall first obtain an animal license from the city for each of such dogs and at the same time obtain a dog license tag. The application shall be made within sixty days after the person becomes a resident of the city or, if already a resident, within thirty days after acquiring a dog.
B. The license fee shall be a total of fifteen dollars. The fee for spayed and neutered dogs shall be fifty percent of the fee otherwise required. The owner of a spayed or neutered dog shall provide a certificate verifying the same.
C. Any licensee shall apply for a renewal during the month of the year in which an original license was issued. An application for license renewal shall be delinquent if received after the last date of the month in which an original license was issued and as such shall be charged an additional fifty percent of the license fee.
D. An application for license submitted after the time period specified in subsection A of this section is delinquent and as such shall be charged an additional fifty percent of the license fee.
E. Notwithstanding the fees cited in this section, a resident of the city sixty-two years of age and older shall pay fifty percent of the appropriate fees required to license a dog. This discount shall only apply to the first dog in a senior citizen household.
