SUBJECT: PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT

Good evening Mr. Mayor and members of the Council. I am here tonight to present the Public Safety Report for March 17th through April 20th.

On March 26th, at 8:30AM, deputies responded to 4400 block of 166th Street regarding a family argument. The argument ensued between the victim and suspect over living conditions. The suspect grabbed a steak knife and chased the victim outside. After the arrival of the deputies, and believing the suspect still was armed, a physical altercation occurred between the deputies and the suspect. The suspect was then arrested without further incident.

On March 28th, at 3:30PM, deputies responded to the 14800 block of Eastwood Avenue to assist Department of Children and Family Services. Upon entering the location, they immediately saw a large quantity of narcotics. A protective sweep of the location was conducted. Two males were discovered hiding in the closet. At this point a search warrant was obtained to search the entire residence. Two firearms, five lap top computers, credit cards and more narcotics were discovered. Three adults were placed under arrest, and one child was placed into protective custody.

On April 4th, about 11:30PM, Deputy Jose Ovalle conducted a traffic stop at Marine Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard. It was determined that the driver was a minor, and his identification was at home. He also admitted to being a gang member, and, he had a handgun in his bedroom. Deputies drove over to the minor’s home. With consent, a search of his bedroom revealed a handgun with live ammunition. He was placed under arrest and transported to Lennox Station.

On April 7th, at 7:30PM, a strong arm robbery occurred near the intersection of 147th Street and Avis Avenue. Two suspects approached the victim and demanded his cell phone. Fearing for his life, the victim complied. The suspects entered a vehicle which drove westbound 147th Street out of view.

On April 10th, at 8:00AM, a strong arm robbery occurred near the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The victim was walking when he was struck from behind. He temporarily lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, he later realized his wallet had been stolen.

On April 18th, at 7:30pm, deputies responded to the 15700 block of Larch Avenue regarding a burglary in progress. During their investigation a female Hispanic adult was found hiding in the bathroom at the location. When she was discovered, she resisted arrest, but was quickly taken into custody. She was arrested for burglary.

This concludes my report. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
