Code Enforcement is a division comprised of dedicated professionals, who ensure proper maintenance of property within the city, so that substandard properties and the effects do not endanger the public health, safety and welfare those properties have on the entire community.

The Lawndale City Council has adopted City Codes (laws) specifically designed to promote livability, community appearance and protect from blight, nuisances and maintain a clean environment for all citizens in our community.

Code Enforcement Officers proactively help maintain and improve the quality of our community by:

  • Canvassing the Entire City, conduct inspections, issue notice of corrections to violators and allow those to comply with the law and correct the situation within a reasonable period. If the violator has not complied with the notice to correct within the specific time Code Enforcement will take corrective action to remedy the problem.
  • Working with resident, public services agencies and other City departments
  • Encourage citizens to become more involved in their community by joining programs like the Beautification or Community Watch
