Program
Description
The Parks and Recreation Division offers
a variety recreational services that provide opportunities for the healthy
and productive use of leisure time for children, youth, teens and families.
Programs offered to the community include, but are not limited to the
following; competitive and non-competitive team sports, after-school
and summer drop-in park activities, teen activities, arts and crafts,
summer wading pools, excursions, Tiny Tot classes, and VolunTeens.
Typical
Tasks
Providing a variety of opportunities
that build strong families and healthy community relations through the
promotion of the benefits of Parks and Recreation. Recreation programs
are divided into these categories.
Sports: Youth winter and summer
basketball leagues, introduction of sports and skill building classes
for children and youth in soccer, basketball, and t-ball. Competitive
leagues for adults in basketball and volleyball.
Early Childhood Education: Offers
classes such as Tiny Tots, Pre-K Tune Up, and Bilingual Education for
Tots, Pee Wee Sports and Peanut Sports Leagues for children ages 3-7.
Youth Programs: Toy loan library,
after-school and summer drop in playground program that provides activities
in art, drama, games, music, science, special events, and supervision
of the wading pools.
Facility Rentals: Supervise community
buildings and park facilities for the use by non-profit organizations,
public and private groups.
