SUBJECT: PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT
Good evening Mr. Mayor
and members of the Council. I am here tonight to present the Public
Safety Report for January 4th through January 18th.
On January 5th, at
3:00 P.M., Deputy Villareal responded to Lawndale High School regarding
a student possessing a deadly weapon call. After making contact, Deputy
Villareal recovered a box cutter from his person. The suspect was
transported and booked at Lennox Station without further incident.
On January 6th, at
about 3:30 P.M., Deputy Wengert conducted a traffic stop near Prairie
Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard. After contacting the passenger,
Deputy Wengert recovered a small baggie from her person. The passenger
spontaneously stated it contained Methamphetamine. She was placed
under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and booked at
Lennox Station.
On January 16th, at
about 11:00 P.M., Special Assignment Deputy Ronnie Mason was driving
by the 7-11 store located at Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Prairie
Avenue. He saw two males running from the location with one holding
a large package under his arm. Deputy Mason immediately detained both
males pending a possible theft investigation. It was determined they
had just stolen a case of beer from the location. A field show up
was conducted with the clerk identifying one suspect. The suspect
was placed under arrest and transported to Lennox Sheriff’s
Station where he was booked for burglary.
On January 17th, at
noontime, Councilman James Osborne witnessed two juveniles tagging
on numerous telephone poles near Larch and Marine Avenues. While following
the individuals, he notified Lennox Station of the above. Deputies
responded to the area and a short time later were able to find both
subjects running near 153rd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard. Deputies
arrested both subjects and they were booked for felony vandalism and
conspiracy charges.
On Friday, January 29th, at 6:30 P.M., there will be a Neighborhood
Watch Program meeting at William Green Park. Please join us in forming
a group on your block to keep your neighborhood safe. For additional
information, please contact Deputy Ryan Rouzan at 310-219-2769.
