Code Enforcement Activities
To maintain the safety, quality of life and property values of all who live, work and play in the city of Lawndale, code enforcement officers work with property owners, residents, business owners, and visitors to ensure the proper maintenance of private property within the city.
Staff utilizes the laws (or City codes) adopted by the City Council to improve the aesthetic quality and safety of the community while eliminating blight and public nuisances.
Code enforcement officers work with the community, other City departments and public service agencies to address a wide range of complaints, including:
- Illegal construction
- Garage conversions
- Dilapidated structures
- Property maintenance concerns
- Unlicensed businesses, including push cart vendors
- Trash scavengers
- Many other types of violations
