For those that qualify, USDA Commodities are distributed every Wednesday between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the Lawndale Civic Center.

Case Management Services
 Assistance is available to senior citizens in coordinating or linking the following support services: Transportation, Meals on Wheels, House Cleaning, Legal Services, Form completion, Health Benefits Counseling, and Housing. The City of Lawndale, in conjunction with the City of Gardena Senior Citizen Bureau provides Case Management services to Lawndale residents’ aged 60+. Confidential, one-on-one assistance can be given in the home or at the Lawndale Senior Center. Call (310) 973-3270 for an appointment.

Lawndale Senior Travel Club
The bus is leaving, don’t miss out! Join our Travel Club! For more information about the Travel Club, please attend the monthly meeting. $3.00 annual membership fee. Meetings held at the Civic Center on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meals On Wheels
Great Meals! Great Prices! Free Delivery! Residents of Lawndale who are unable to prepare their own meals due to disability or other health reasons are eligible to receive home delivered meals. The program is offered in conjunction with the Salvation Army. The cost for a hot, nutritious meal delivered Monday thru Friday, between 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. is $4.00 each. Great Lunches, Great Company
If you have never attended the Senior Lunch Program or have just been away for a while, we invite you to have lunch with us! Please RSVP 24 hours in advance by calling 973-3277. L.A. County Health Dept. Rates us an “A”! Lunch is served Monday-Friday everday 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Cost is $2.25.

 

 

Need a Ride?
Curb-to-curb transportation service is available for disabled persons and senior citizens age 60 and over who reside in the City of Lawndale. The ride is free of charge to residents. Pick-ups are made anywhere within the incorporated boundaries of Lawndale. The service is available for medical, dental, banking, shopping, hairdressing and recreation activities. The service operates Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. For more information, leave a voice mail message at (310) 973-3287. 24-hour advance notice required (Monday thru Friday only.)

 

 

AARP 55 Alive Driving Course
Most insurance companies recognize this special 8-hour driving instruction class as contributing to better driving records. Many insurance companies will give a discount to those over 55 years of age that complete the course. Sign up for this course at the Community Services office by calling (310) 973-3270.

Lawndale Volunteer Program
Lawndale has opportunities for Senior Citizens to get involved by contributing time and effort to make a difference in our community. Have a skill or talent to share? Would you like to help start a choir or play reading group? NEW IDEAS?? The Lawndale Senior Center is currently seeking ideas for new senior citizen programs and services to fill the following time slot 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (most weekdays.) Please call us with your ideas (310) 973-3270.

Are you an instructor? Do you know of one that would like to teach a class in dance, art or anything that might be of interest to our seniors? We have the facility and are willing to work with you to offer that class here at our center. For more information, please call (310) 973-3270.

FITNESS CORNER

LINE DANCING CLASS
Every Tuesday at the Civic Center, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Country line dancers are welcome to come and dance. The class is for those of the intermediate level. Cost is $2.00 per class.

GALERIA GATORS
Every Tuesday at the Civic Center, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Country line dancers are welcome to come and dance. The class is for those of the intermediate level. Cost is $2.00 per class.

SENIOR FITNESS CLASS
Keep in shape with our instructor lead fitness class. This class is for our seniors. The class will emphasize stretching as well as muscle toning. The class is held on Mondays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and on Wednesdays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The fitness class is held at the Lawndale Civic Center and is FREE.

SENIOR BEACH WALK
Every Tuesday our seniors can get a ride to Redondo Beach to walk along on the Strand. Meet at the Lawndale Civic Center every Tuesday to catch the bus that leaves at 8:00 a.m. This is FREE to our seniors age(60+). Space is limited! please call (310) 973-3270 to sign up.

MONTHLY EVENTS

SENIOR SCRAPBOOKING - Sign-up Required
We will be holding a scrapbooking class. Bring in a few of your photos and have fun creating a memorable photo page. Please sign-up for this class in the Community Services Department. This class is FREE. Check calendar for dates and times.

BUNCO - Sign-up Required
You are invited to come play the exciting dice game of Bunco The game will be played at the Lawndale Civic Center at 2:00 p.m. (watch for dates). Please call 310973-3270 to reserve a spot; spaces are limited. Bunco is FREE to play and there will be prizes for everyone. Enjoy!

SENIOR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS - Sign-up Required
Seniors who celebrated a birthday during the month will be honored with a song, cake, and congratulations. You are invited to sign up for lunch 24-hours in advance and enjoy birthday cake following our lunch service. Lunch is served at 12:00 p.m. and cake will follow at 12:30 p.m. Sign-up in our Community Services Dept.

LADIES TEA PARTY - Sign-up Required
Come and enjoy an afternoon of tea and conversation with us. Sign-up for a reservation to this monthly event in the Community Services Dept. Bring your favorite teacup to this event. We will provide tea and delicious snacks as well as entertainment.

NEW! SENIOR ART CLASS - Sign-up Required
We know there is a creative side in all of you! Come on down and learn about various styles of art as we explore painting, drawing and other forms of art. All art supplies are provided. The Senior Art Class is FREE! Please call (310) 973-3270 to sign-up.
