Building Inspections

Work being conducted in conjunction with a permit must be inspected during the project to insure compliance with codes and the approved plans. To arrange an inspection, call us at least two days before the desired inspection date. Inspection hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. Please call (310) 973-3237 at least 24 to 48 in advance to schedule an inspection.


Planning Inspections
Inspections for fences, flatwork, shed's, and planning final's are done only on Thursday's from 9 am to 12 pm Please call (310) 973-3230 at least 24-hours in advance to schedule an inspection.

 
Plans Prepared by a Licensed Architect/Engineer
Please see the following document to determine if your plans need to be prepared by an architect/engineer that is licensed with the State of California.

You can now submit your application and plans for Solar Power Systems online!

E-mail your documents and application to: solarsubmittal@lawndalecity.org. Typical turn around time is two-business days.

The following documents must be submitted:

  • Building Permit Application
  • Electrical Permit Application (if a main panel or sub-panel will be added or replaced or if additional electrical work is required)
  • Electrical and structural plans/calculaitons for the system (for review and approval by the Building and Safety Division before permit issuance)
  • Applicable Solar Attachment Forms (Attachments: B, C, D, and/or E)

Permit fees are due upon retrieval of approved solar plans ($547.40 for residential projects - $1,094.80 for commericial projects). Fees for any additional items are also due upon permit issuance.

Cash, check, and debit/credit card payments must be made at the Finance Department. Check payments are made payable to the City of Lawndale.
